A tapped tele neck pickup

I am making an assumption.
I am removing a tapped tele neck configured pick up and may want to use it again down the road on another project.
If I simply twist together the two non ground leads...and solder them to the switch, I am getting the full pick up output ?
Sounds like the logical thing to me, but I haven't done this is a very long time.

Re: A tapped tele neck pickup

There are three leads? They'll be hot, ground, tap. Probably you'll have full resistance with two leads, and non-full with two of the others. Use hot and ground that give full resistance, tape the other, no need to twist/connect. It's not like a four connector humbucker where you need to connect each "half."

Unless it does have four leads (not counting bare...)

Thanks...this is a 3 lead situation.
The odd thing about these pickups are the wire colors...Black is ground..gray & purple. Never seen these colors anywhere else.

insulation color is just for looks but grey and purple are a little out of the ordinary. like the kid said, use the ground and one of the hot leads and insulate the other one
