I built a Rat-based pedal for bass earlier this year and I have built a couple BYOC Mouse kits. In experimenting with them, I didn't notice much difference between op amps, but the value of the cap right before your signal hits the op amp can make a huge difference. Different clipping diodes make large, very noticeable differences too.

What I learned is that the Turbo Rat with it's LED clipping diodes is my favorite model and the most useful for me. The Dirty Rat, with germanium diodes is cool too, but it is very much like a fuzz pedal.

Definitely, this is filtering what frequencies get amplified.

And, finished the video, I do respect Josh for supporting the companies that originally made the circuits, a Lil' Rat may be in my future.
