I forgot who it was who had an A2 in his 59b.
Do you by any chance have a clip of it??
And is it not Jolly who has a guitar with an APH-1 bridge pu?
I have discovered that my Wolfgang sounds very very good with lowoutput PAFs, right now I have the neck 59 as a bridge pickup, but I am looking for the softness of a A2 magnet to sweeten up the sound even more.

I have an A3 '59 bridge ready to go into my Wolfgang in the next day or so, as soon, as the new pots that I ordered arrive.

So A2 and A3's in a 59......
I am getting a A2 magnet the coming week....I getting quite convinced that it will be the pickup for my Wolfgang, since it sounds great now, but with the A2 it will be even more how I want it.

That would be me. I love the combo in my Strat, I didn't like it in my Explorer but I don't think I could improve the sound in my Fender. If you hit my link you can hear it in action. Just about all the tunes are the A2 59 through my Plexi RI.

I was honestly shooting for a low output CC and It really got me there. I took out a PG and out in the A2 59 and was much happier. There is a snizzle to the PG I just don't dig. I love A2s in Strats and really feel the 59 is the perfect compliment to that Guitar. ( 62 RI) It is perfect in no matter which amp I plug into.

Man my source for an A2 magnet could not provide me one.....well he could but it would be quite expensive:(
So I'll have to wait some more, because the guitar has enough bass and spank to support an A2 pickup....I really want a more balanced sound..
Lol perhaps I should get an used PG or one more APH-1 neck pu, and nick the magnet from one of those.
By the way will you record more stuff in the near future??

I have an APH II set in my Hardtail. If you click on my sound clips and scroll thru the songs...you'll find it labled accordingly.

one day when I was walking across the Duncan factory floor, I was told that if you dropped an a2 into a 59, you'd essentially have a Pearly Gates. I've been slammed by a lot of folks here for that comment, but I'm just repeating something I was told by the actual people that, wait...., uh wait...., actual people that make the pickups.

That's about right Scott, except I think the 59 has balanced coils and I know the PG has unbalanced coils that make it a little brighter and more open in the mids.

Personally, I'll take a 59 Trembucker over just about any humbucker in a Strat, but I have still to try the EVH/78 Trembucker MJ wound for me...I've been in a Tele frame of mind lately!

But I've decided to put it in my two humbucker MIJ Strat with a PG neck pickup.
