? about a Hardtail 50th Anny Strat?

Question is...have you ever heard of one?

My bro-in-law told me he just scored a couple of fenders (Strat & Tele) off a guy at his work and one of them is a USA 50th Anny Strat hardtail?!

He said he had searched a bit about it and couldn't find much of anything at all about it...so...he called me! I assumed it wasn't that big of deal until i started a search and could barely find anything out about them either?

Soooo any of you Fender gurus know how rare/uncommon these are?

Is it just a Hardtail American Standard with the 50th sticker on the back of the neck... or is it a 2-tone 50's style paint job with special features?

i think he said it was black with maple/maple neck and 50th anny seal on back of headstock...i don't think it was the limited?

ya that sounds just like an American Standard Hardtail model.... they offered Hardtail American Standards in the 90's... i loved them myself...

most Fenders had the 50th aniversary stickers on them from that year... (my old 1996 strat had the 50th sticker... and 2006 MIM Standard has the 60th sticker on the back of the headstock...)

there was some Sunburst special issue strats, teles, P & J basses for both the 50th and the 60th years.... from what i can remember they were offered with a 2-tone sunburst 50's style paint... Gold hardware, and some special issued cases...

That's a regular 1996 Strat. I have a '96 and it has the same label.

i used to have a 50th Tele back in the day...so i know they aren't special in themselves...but the guy who sold it to him was meant to believe that the Hardtail was very, very rare in that year/model...like 1 of 100 or some sort...is that true?

not sure, but i don't think it would be rare... American Standards in Hardtail were everywhere in the 90's... they were just not as popular as a trem model... half the fun of owning a strat is the trem... i do like Hardtail strats... i could see myself getting one...

All Telecasters are hardtails unless a bigsby trem is added at the factory...right?

Hardtail Strats are rare. From what I know (at the present time) the only one that can be bought is the Robert Cray model.

Hardtail Strats are rare. From what I know (at the present time) the only one that can be bought is the Robert Cray model.

the Hardtail American Standard/series strat was discontinued in around the early 2000's
