About the Tone Wizard

Does anyone here know what each genre means under the Tone Wizard. More specifically what is SD's opinion on those certain genres, I know what they are but it might not be what SD thinks of them. Does Hard Rock/Metal refer to the 70s/80s solo oriented stuff (Metallica, Pantera, and hair band stuff) only or a combo of that and riff/rhythm work? Or would the riff stuff go under Rock/Pop? When you think of pop you think of Spears, Simpson, Aguilera, etc...yet when you go to most music stores anymore bands like Tool, Stabbing Westward, NIN are mixed in with the Rock/Pop section...I don't know, this is kind of an odd post but I want the most out of the wizard, don't you? Seriously does anyone know?

Checking the answers, I think 'pop' just means 'versatile' in the wizard language. :6:

No joke huh...It seems like everything (LP or Similar w/ Mahogany body, rosewood board, standard bridge) includes at least a JB or some sort of Custom for the Bridge, and a Jazz or '59 neck...

Anyone out there have any form of opinion on this. Taking the Tone Wizard further don't you think there should be more refining options such as: Caps, Neck material, other woods included (lots of Epiphones have Alder mixed in with mahogany). Maybe that is asking too much but taking the strain off of e-mailing the SD techs would be nice.

I am not a fan of the Wizard. It will work for most rookies, but eventually you have to get more detailed than would reasonably be possible. That's why we're here! This place is Wizard on Steroids...

I like the sound of that.

Re: About the Tone Wizard

I don't rely on the Tone Wizard. There are so many variables when it comes to good tone that it is not possible to generate the pickup for your ideal sound this way. Sure, they could improve the TW, but it's best to take advantage of the knowledge of the great people in this forum. I've learned a lot from their posts and just recently decided to become a member. And don't forget SD's exchange policy! Real-world experience with your new pups is the only true test! Take advantage of it!
