Anyway . . . check out this chart:

If you compare this segment, to the overall chart, it appears as though the P-90 Custom Soapbar is Duncan's highest output pickup. (Not counting Live-Wires.) Is this true?

And keeping in mind my constant budget-mindedness, if I wanted to try a pair of these, what would you consider the least expensive guitar that you would put these into, and still be able to appreciate their sound characteristics?

I was thinking along the lines of an Agile 2800 DLX, or similiar. On the other hand, I already have a reasonable collection of cheap-ish guitars. Maybe I should pack this all in, and just save up for one truly "nice" guitar.

I heard one in a Tele Jr (bridge position with a hot at the neck), and it sounded like a good P90 should. However, I think the Phat Cats have some advantages in terms of getting the P90 tone with a bit less hum and more versatility in fitting a HB housing. If you have a dual HB guitar to mod, then I would start there myself.

Hmm . . . a Phat Cat is what I was considering before I saw the "soapbar" chart. I'll keep that in mind.

i have 2 p90s in a hollowbody. i think thats were that sound best imo.

Hi Artie, I've tried both the Duncan P90 Hots and the Customs in my Gold Top Hamer. In terms of pushing an amp into overdrive, they might register high on the D.C. Resistance scale, but they didn't seem to be hotter than a good humbucker. Great tone tho: killer for bluesy boogie, ala ZZ Top.

Thats good actually. I'm not really looking for high-output per se - just that rich, luxurious tone.

I love the 59 set that I got from you, but I'm still seeking . . . something else. It may just be a bonafide tube-amp that I need.
