If you want to follow along here is the schematic I'm using

Feel free to stop me if my theory seems off.
First I read around to see what others are doing. I see that many add a small diode in series with one of the 4148s that are back to back.
I was hoping to replace one of these with one with slightly less voltage drop so that I get just a tad more distortion in addition to the asymmetrical clipping. But I'm thinking other diodes might have their voltage drop value too close to the current diodes in order for there to be a noticeable difference. I'm trying to get like a .1v lower diode in the one I swap. Is there a chart to compare..I've googled but the only charts I find compare different colored LEDs which doesn't help in this situation obviously.
I'm also curious how reverse recovery time affects the way the tone reacts. I was thinking maybe I just swap both diodes out for some with lower recovery times. I might just be going way out on a limb here, I'm just curious. I'm afraid if I change this I'll lose the speed chug ability of the MT2 but I'll admit this idea ventures me into things I don't understand so I'm just guessing how It would affect...might be worth experimenting if I get a second pedal to franken-fart around with.
