So I've googled around and have recommendations in mind... I'm curious if anyone has changed the speaker in one of these?
The monkey-wrench is, I changed the tubes to RFT 12AX7s (x2 ,) and it is now MUCH darker than previous; darker than any tube I've ever used, and I love them for the break-up/warm characteristics, but I think that might skew things vs. other people's speaker selections.
My main issue is that it handles the bass end of things in a bit of a poor way; not awful, but congested, esp. with the bass up a bit. This wasn't an issue at all before changing the preamp tubes to the RFTs. Want to stick with a 10" because this is my condo amp anyway and is mostly used at lower volume. Don't necessarily want something efficient.
I'll throw Tone Tubby Humboldt ceramic out there and see what people say?
