Ok , ive always kinda wondered how you'd class action height
how low an action would you guys consider Very Low ,Low ,Low-Med, Medium ,Med-High , High , Crazy High!!?

Also could someone post the conversion from inches to centimeters ?

EDIT* I mean this as to how would you guys class this in your own Opinions that is :laugh2:

Cheers

Re: Action Height Classes?

I don't measure at all when I do saddle height or pickup height. I do it all by ear and feel. With the saddles I lower them until they buzz and ten raise them to just before they buzz. I like my action as low as I can get it. I don't see how one measurement can fit all players. We all like 'em different.

Re: Action Height Classes?

Opps edit^^ I just wanted to see what the general consensus was to what you guys would call low or high action,

Cheers

Feelin' any better chris? :laugh2:

Re: Action Height Classes?

I guess I would be classified as: "as low as you can go".

Yeah, I'm doin' a little better. A night on the couch with a bottle of Nyquil can do wonders. Thanks.

I'd imagine the process would begin with a ruler. ;)

I think it's all about what it feels like to you. Everyone's going to have different standards. My guesses are if it buzzes it's too low and if you cut your finger fretting a note, it's too high.

Re: Action Height Classes?

I'd imagine classifications would be subjective, like Guitarist said.

The conversion though is 1 inch=2.54 cm.

Ahh, the wonders of taking chem and physics in the same year. :blackeye:

Re: Action Height Classes?

Thats why I'm asking, Because it is subjective and I'd like to know what YOU guys class as being Low

e.g. "Low for me would be (insert measurment here)" :)

Cheers

1" = 2.54cm =25.4mm

I consider low anything lower than 1.5mm (just above 1/16"), and Very low anything under 1.1 (I play 1.14 high E, 1.2 low E). That´s measured between string bottom and 12th Fret top with the string fretted at the first. Anything higher than 2.5 MM is IMO unplayable (lone ex. nylon strings, about 3.5 there). All the other values are somewhere in between ;)
