Active 7 string pickup help

So, here's my thoughts and problem-
My only experience with active 7 string pups is in my agile 727, unfortunately routed for emg 707s. If I could fit passives in there with no modification, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. But the 707s need to go and I feel my only options are blackouts and 7 string x series

I have to say, while I don't think the tone of the 707 is horrible, the feel is, atleast to me. So enter the 707x. I'd rather stay away from the 81-7x(unless they make an 81-7twx). How does the 707x compete with the blackouts?

And that enters my second question. Are the neck and bridge blackouts completely different pickups, or is it similar to, say, a Duncan distortion n and a Duncan distortion b? How would the blackout 7 neck pup sound in the bridge?

Re: Active 7 string pickup help

If I'm not mistaken (& if you're open to them) you could probably fit one of the new Lace 7-string Alumitone/Aluma PU's (X-Bar or Death-Bar) into that route..they're passives.

Personally, I think they sound great...might get a pair of them for my S7420, (though I do like the way it sounds with the stock pups atm...:scratchch)

Re: Active 7 string pickup help

That's definitely an option, a preferable one at that. I will definitely be checking them out
