Active/Passive switch with Batrolini MK-1 PUs

ehdwuld

A Ficus
hello
so when I got my SR500, it came with the MK-1 Bartolini's
and preamp
it has a mid boost switch which I like

but.......

I also like the Active/Passive switch I had on a Carvin I had some years ago

would anyone know if I could put a switch in to bypas the preamp
and just use the Bart's as passives with no tone controls?

or are the MK-1's strictly active themselves?

oh and heres a pic for the pron

Re: Active/Passive switch with Batrolini MK-1 PUs

oh alright
I just was thinking the Carvin's switch only reduced the volume
and if the battery died in the middle of a gig
you could finish the gig

the Carvin pickups had a nice warm character of there own
and the active eq just enhanced the control

I was thinking that was the case here as well

thanks

Re: Active/Passive switch with Batrolini MK-1 PUs

Would you take to the stage on a professional engagement with a battery that close to running flat?

What a silly question. AVG battery life lasts between 6 to 18 mos for regular gigging and rehearsing schedule and depending on preamp circuit.
There is little to no warning that a battery is about to die in a bass less a gradual drop in headroom which is imperceptible generally. 'Dead' battery happens to all professionals occasionally, its part of the gig.

Passsive switch? Yes! Go for it. These 'offshore' Barts will sound essentially like they do now with the EQ set to unity or no boost/cut on the circuit. Its OK to like how they sound even if they are stock overseas pickups.
