Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of removing an active EMG 707 pickup from the bridge of my Jackson RR7R and replacing it with a Seymour Duncan Invader. There is already an invader in the neck position. The original owner of this guitar had removed the passive pickup in the bridge and replaced it with the EMG 707. It's pretty obvious they routered the bridge pickup cavity to fit the soap bar style EMG and installed pegs to directly mount to the body.
In order to have enough clearance for the height adjusting screws on the Duncan Invader I'm going to have to drill out these pegs or try to remove them. They feel like they're pretty well seated in there so I was curious what other people would suggest. Would it be enough to just drill out enough to make clearance for the height adjusting screws for the invader or should I really try to remove these pegs all together? My best guess on the amount of depth clearance I would need is under 5mm.
This is my first pickup install so really any advice from people with this kind of experience is greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much in advance.
