Driving home from work I kept telling myself not to get my hopes up and expect my Soloist a day earlier than expected. I kept trying to remind myself its scheduled to arrive the next day (thanks DHL for keeping it all in one piece).
But when my dad yells "Guitar Man" when I'm walking in, its a pretty subtle hint theres a box laying on my bed. So I open it.
Instantly I'm awe struck by a finely detailed lightning bolt that scorches the blackness that you can easily be lost in. Its Black, and I mean BLACK! Don't fear though cause the binding surely helped me find a neck that guided me beyond anything I could expect.
The neck is amazing, very fast, the action sets perfect. This instrument is demanding and has every right to be. While in mid shred I found my playing sloppy getting used to this neck, but soon I got the hang of it. (Plus I'm tired from working all day...) It has a dominating sustain that can spill a rain of notes till the end of days.
Plugging this amp into my Rectifier, it sounded thick. Much thicker than my Strat punching a JB Jr., and yes theres a huge difference between the JB and JB Jr. even my parents who don't really notice a change in tone heard it. Hell how could they miss it, I was blasting this baby. Definately I was ripping through some wicked riffs. I found the Classic Stacks even amazing. The cleans sounded beautiful.
Of course I'm going to be looking for a pup change, probably go for a Custom. But this Soloist makes me happy, I wasn't able to put it down. I'm still having a hard time sitting here typing this damn review while its laying there.
Pics are going to have to come later folks. Right now I can barely contain myself. But from playing this guitar I can really say I'm in heaven, and this is all within the few hours I've jammed on it.
The craftsmanship is just awsome. Jackson USA make incredible guitars, I'm very happy with this buy. And not to mention the dealer who definately helped me out.
So a shout out to Scott of Vwall Guitars! He helped me, made my dream of owning a Soloist a reality. If your after a Jackson, save your money and go for it. They are worth every penny, I couldn't be happier!
This guitar makes me want to play better, I have to, its the least I can do.
I'm sure I'm going to add more as I keep experiencing the Soloist. Expect pics up sometime. I promise I'll post some! Right now I'm gonna go play.
