Adding all Seymour Duncan pick ups to my Strat

I recently put a little 59 pick up in my bridge position love it one to add more Seymour Duncan pick ups to my Strat I’m going to put the duck bucker in the middle position not sure what to put in the neck position thought about putting a hot rail in the bridge position and moving my little 59 to the next position
Thoughts and ideas welcome I play pretty hard rock and classic rock

Hot rail is pretty different than the Lil 59. If you like the Lil 59 in the bridge, I'd keep 'er there and explore other options for the neck pickup. Do you want a humbucker or single coil sound? Noise cancelling?

Welcome to the forum!

A Little 59/Duckbucker/Hot Rail is a great combo for an all-around rock machine. It won't have the cluck and output of a Strat, but it will be a lot more powerful. Keep in mind, that the output of the Duckbucker is a lot less than the other 2 pickups (some people prefer that).

Obvious choices would be another duckbucker or another lil 59. You could also consider the JB Jr in the bridge and move the 59 to the neck.

I had consider the JB Junior on the bridge I read on other forums were they said it sounded a little thin and I do like the sound of the little 59 and I like that hot real thickness from what I heard on YouTube
Also reading I might put a 500 K pod in the wiring this is all kind of new to me actually have a guy that will do the wiring for me
Man I really appreciate the feedback!!!!

I have noticed when playing some aggressive songs such a Van Halen it’s hard to get a squeal without pinching for a harmonic real hard
Was thinking a hot rail might be the option for me I don’t want to get too far from my current sound though too much treble not my thing... sound too modern metal
play an old mesa tri axis love tube sound and versatility when I roll of the volume

Oh, and welcome to the forum, don't let the sarcasm fool you, we don't know what we are talking about, speaking personally in 3rd person of course.

But as said, the HR is quite different from the lil'59, it is very powerful and midrangey, not a bad thing, just different from the 59 which is more vintage output and a little scooped.

Just reading your new post as I'm typing, yeah, if you want the easy squealies, grab a HR and don't look back. The 500K pot will make it a little brighter, but not necessarily a bad thing for the HR.

Or, if you want a rail pickup with a slightly hotter 59-ish tone, try the Cool Rails.

The JB Jr isn't thin at all, but compared to the Hot Rails, sure, it is thinner. But it is a great rock n roll sound. Hot Rails is more metal (with a lot more mids).

I would say my sound preference is not quite the modern metal but I do like a really metallic style sound I guess I’m right in between Led Zeppelin Metallica but not quite as modern as some of the bands That are out although I wouldn’t mind trying playing in a sort of tone I like to take all the rock songs and modernizing with today sounds I think I’m gonna try the rails worst case Scenario I can always go back

Let us know how this project turns out.

Would a Cool Rails pickup be somewhere between Lil 59 and JB Jr ?

A Cool Rails sounds a little like a Jazz humbucker...very clean and clear. It has more highs, less mids, and less power than both the Little 59 and JB Jr.

The OP liked the lil59 in the bridge, which suits is favorite music style. I think he better off with coolrails in the middle and neck.

Thanks Mincer, my bad, I was mistaken and thought the CR bridge was a little hotter than the lil'59. I've only used the neck and middle versions of it, and it's great in those positions but definitely more scooped than HRs.

JB Jr in the bridge has always been my go-to. I used to use a hot rails but I like the JBJR much better for what I play. It's not then at all.

Yes, if you are used to great hard rock bridge humbuckers, and that's what you want in your Strat, use the JB Jr.
