Adding logo?

I have a genuine Alnico Pro II, and being a neck pickup, it doesn't come with an SD logo unless it is ordered that way. Can the factory add a logo to an existing pickup?

Re: Adding logo?

i like logos on mine too
would be interested in this as well as i have a few OEM duncans without logos that i wish HAD logos

Re: Adding logo?

I've almost always preferred logos. I don't know why, but I think it goes back to my love for the late 80's Ibanez'. Not the RG's so much, but the Radius, Saber (S series) and Power. They all had IBZUSA pickups made by Dimarzio, and I just liked the little finishing touch the logo added to the look. Of course, anything vintage looking I prefer no logo, but only if it's REALLY vintage looking. I can go either way on a Strat, but if it's a butterscotch tele then no logo for sure. H/H guitars are a toss up for me. I usually like logos even if it's an SG or Les Paul.

I don't have an answer for you on the logistics of the logos, whether there's a charge or how long it takes, but if you call in to Customer Service, they can help you. We can definitely do it for you, provided the pickup hadn't been modified and no longer an acceptable "Seymour Duncan" product. In other words, we probably wouldn't logo someone's hybrid, or a non-Duncan rewind, etc.

Yes, I agree with this... pure vintage: no logo. Strat: at the discretion of the person. LP / SG: either way, if vintage, no logo, modern, owner's discretion. I do especially agree though that a homebrew shouldn't have the logo, or even a sticker, on it. A logo / sticker is like a signature of the maker stating that he or she stands behind the work unquestionably. This is why i'd rather get more than 1 of a certain pickup or have the manufacturer rewind it, than have to rewind it myself. First, I don't know if I'd do a good job, and 2nd, if the original maker rewinds his or her own work, then it's simply (at least to me) an inhouse modification.

Re: Adding logo?

I called...to get a logo, call first, get an RA#, send it in (it costs $10), and they can ship it back the same day it is put on.

Re: Adding logo?

You know for a moment I thought they would take the Gibson approach and say "TOUGH LUCK BUD!"

If it's a duncan product, and you haven't futzed with it... they'll do anything the customer wants for it, it's listed in the Custom shop charges department. They'll rewind it, change magnets, etc. for a fee. SD isn't a company that'll tell you to get stuffed... when the company put me down for a CC even though i sent a Money Order, my Brobucker had to travel crosscountry 4 times before it got here, Brandon and everyone were very apologetic and kind and sent me a t-shirt, a beer bottle opener, and a screwdriver (the last 2 have been extensively used!) and even covered the shipping. For a large company SD has public relations down to an art.

So get the RA (Return Authorization) and get the logo if you'd like

Re: Adding logo?

Well, what I forgot to ask was if the $10 included shipping back- or how to pay. I don't think cash is a good idea, but I am sure they will take debit or credit info over the phone.

Actually they are a pretty small company, at least from the management standpoint .... and yes, they care about the customer!!
