Adjustment screw hole repair on a SSL-2

The screw that was used to adjusting was a round head. I have a proper counter-sunk, but it's thread diameter is smaller and when it hit the spring resistance it pushes it.

I would look for a screw that fits the threads myself.

That said, you can make a sort of "sideways U" out of a piece of sheet metal (by bending it), and tap it for the threads you have. It goes both above and below the lower bobbin flatwork, so the screw passes through it twice. It leaves the original bobbin unmodded, as it is reversible.

A method easier than that, but which modifies the bobbin permanently, is to just epoxy a small square of tapped sheet metal or drilled-out fiberboard to the bottom of the bobbin, below the original screw hole.

Apply something greasy to the screw thread. Apply a thin layer of superglue to the edge of the hole through the vulcanised fibreboard bobbin. Allow the glue to harden almost fully. Let the screw form its own thread through the glue.

Thanks...
I have something that's perfect for doing that.. I'm a dumb a$$ for not thinking about it.

You're welcome.

I neglected to mention that a regular-old nut glued to the bobbin would also work, without requiring tapping.

I was going to do that originally as I have done humbuckers like that.
