Advice on a bridge pickup for my all maple 84 NJ warlock, rosewood fretboard

It's a pretty bright guitar, I would like to tone it down a little. Currently, I have an Ultrasonic Reference 5(Bill Lawrence) pickup in the bridge which is very PAF like and sounds good around 9k just not quite warm enough for me. What are the recommedations for an all maple guitar? So far with SD pickups I have an a2pro bridge in a super strat and a custom custom bridge in another superstrat both alder with maple necks and I like the tones very much. I have thought about an uncovered seth bridge or a2pro bridge just not sure. I even have a JB at home I even thought of trying.

a jb with alnico II magnet might be very cool in that guitar.

the seth and aph are pretty low output but great sounding pups

Actives?

I really dont like actives, would like to stick with passives. I thought since Jerry Cantrell uses a JB bridge in a maple body and neck that it might not sound to bad in mine. I wasnt to sure how hot the JB was and how much clarity is lost in the overwinding. If it doesnt sound good, Ill prabably stick to the PAF's. Any other recommendations?

Since an alnico II magnet in a JB was mentioned, have you considered a Custom Custom? That would be a little warmer in an all maple warlock than a JB would be. If you like the sound of the CC in your superstrat, I would think it would fit the bill nicely.

I currently use a Duncan TB-6 Distortion at the bridge and Alnico II Pro in the neck of my NT Warlock. I wanted a little more output, crispness, and punch at the bridge than the original APII at the bridge could provide.

As a point of reference, mine is maple neck through, alder wings, rosewood fretboard... Hopefully that gives you something to consider.

I've always felt those guitars were made for Super D's!!!

Since I got an extra JB trembucker I am going to put that in. If it doesnt sound the way I want I might go custom custom (I never even thought about using it until Grinsspine mentioned that) Thanks - Any ideas for the neck pickup? 59, pearly or seth?

Depends how powerful of an amp you use. The Seth is unpotted, so might be prone to feedback. I really do like my Alnico II Pro in the neck, though I would have gone for the Slash version had I waited another month to buy it. The stock Alnico Pro II sounds like it could use a little more midrange punch in my guitar. I would guess the same would hold true with your NT Warlock if the neck is trying to hold up to a JB or CC.

I cant quite tell what bridge does that warlock have? if it has a kahler that can significantly influence the tone i dare say more so even than the maple. JB's get along with Kahlers. For the neck i would go with a PG
