I'm still needing help on finding a pup for my semi acoustic carvin AE 185 bridge pup.I need something with good bass depth, which will work for clean tones as well as distorted.I need a lot of sustain as the wood & the body of the guitar kills sustain pretty fast.
Thanks.

Re: Advice on pup for semi acoustic guitar

You'll get many different suggestions, but I think you'd be really happy with a 59b.
It's got incredible sustain, a beautiful voicing, the right output for that guitar, and it sounds equally good for gain and clean.

I don't know if you need 4 lead or 2 lead, but the 59B/59N can be ordered with either. Take note of that when you buy any pickup.
Order a 59 set, because I'm not sure if the Carvin neck pickup will jive with the Duncan bridge.

And the natural sustain of the guitar is very dependent on the setup.
With nice medium low action, fresh strings, and a slight relief in the neck, the sustain should be optimum.

What happened to the original pickup?

I actually am very surprised at how good the pickups in those sound (I have the 12 string version!)

Very cool guitar!
