Advice on solid humbucker covers for 12 pole Dimarzios

Hey, all. I've been trying to search the net but can't really find any thing definitive. Is there any negative effect to properly (using tape or wax as a buffer) installing solid, no hole covers on a Super Distortion? Im assuming if I run the screws flush with the bobbins and either tape or wax the inside of the cover there shouldn't be any negative effects (providing I use a good quality nickel silver cover). Any thoughts?

Try it with electrical tape on the bobbins and a small solder joint to the baseplate to ground the cover and listen.
Worth a try and easily reversed.

I use a little dab of silicone and have had no problems with that.
