Aerosmith/Kid Rock/Run DMC MTV awards show in 1999 (Perry's guitar)

Remember that show, when Tyler and Perry appeared from one of the backdoors and walked all the way from the crowd to join Kid Rock, Run DMC and played Walk this Way?

What guitar was Joe Perry using? I think it was a black Jackson Kelly, but knowing Perry's taste it should be a black Explorer. It looked too slick to be a Explorer though... do any of you remember? He looked absolutely bada$$...

You're right... funny, I could have sworn the guitar had Jackson on the headstock.

I've always wanted to know as well. Those videos are the only time I can recall ever even seeing it. I tried looking all over the net for Joe Perry's guitar collection and info about that guitar, but I couldn't find anything.

It's a Guild guitar. In the 80's Guild made some radical metal guitars for a short period of time, I remember finding them in pawn shops. Some had graphite necks. All had Kahler tremolos. Not much information can be found on them now, they're kinda rare.

Off-topic, but you gotta love Steve's expression in the music video when they're on the stage. You can tell he's resenting every minute of it :D

There's a great book called "Guitar Stories 2" that was given to me as a gift that delves into some of the Guild weirdness in the 80's.

They basically profile about five different companies during a transitional phase and talk about the products they made.

It's a decent read and I'm convinced my copy, which was a gift, came to me out of a bargain bin.

On both videos the guitar looked killer. But the pictures... :no::no::no::no::wrf:

That's because Joe Perry was wearing them in the videos....LOL. That man could wear a reverse flying V and make it look cool. ;)
