After all the headache my duncan purchase brought me, it is solved

I was charged $350 for a magnet flip from the custom shop.

Wasn’t Reversed wound, or polarity flipped on the pickup requested, no documentation, 6 phone calls countless emails with all wrong information.

However I figured it out. Wouldn’t of taken me so long, but the last thought in my head would be just a magnet flip on the wrong pickup was all that was done at the prestigious Duncan Custom shop. What a joke.

So buyer beware. Just because you order from a “custom shop” don’t be naive like me, and expect to get correct information, or that there is documentation in the box or at least some record of what was built. Sadly it does not exisist. Whatever the person felt like doing that day is what you get.

Off the shelf, I’d double check that just incase as well.

On the bright side getting my 3 way with two pushpulls wired up with the 9killer combinations of tone I wanted gives me a sigh of relief.

Any recommendations to real custom shop manufacturers thatbyou have had decent customer service would be appreciated!

Thanks for help.

I am sorry that the Custom Shop experience wasn't a good one. Lots of people have had excellent experiences, but apparently your's didn't work out. $350 for a simple magnet flip (does this include the pickup?) does seem high.

Usually you have to know a bit about what you want before you make an order from the Custom Shop. What exactly did you order? It appears you just asked for a RWRP humbucker, which one can do on their own without any technical ability. What was so special about this pickup that the Custom Shop had to make it?

I think people were confused what I was doing. I was testing for two OEM clients thinking about switching to Duncan pickups. I just needed a reverse wind reverse pole pickup in the set. I understand this can be done easily by flipping a magnet in one and reverseing the colors red/ white black/green on the flipped pickup, and have done it many times.

The whole reason I did the order was to get this pair with matching wire color code, thus no confusion if modifications needed to be made.

So to answer your question, yes included the pickups just with a flipped magnet. I could get this with a off the self pair for about $150 and do the flip in two minutes. So is a disappointment. Again I can not stress how much I enjoy the pickups. But for the level of service and the amount of pickups one of the clients need, this would not be acceptable and they are looking elsewhere.

If that's all you wanted you could have gotten it shop floor custon for the same price as a production model. You didn't need to go straight up the the Custom Shop.

So you wanted rwrp humbucker with standard color coding? And paid 350$ for that?

Well why not if money isn't issue. Too bad it didn't go as you wanted.

Knowing how long it took get that through I suppose it's not entirely custom shops fault they didn't get your order right though.

Not really, since you had MJ, Seymour, or Derek wind the pickups. That's the Custom Shop upcharge. You have all that expertise focused on delivering what you ordered. If you didn't care for it, an off the shelf set would have sufficed. The customer service and errors, I can't justify. Arwin from the CS has always been helpful and proactive.

I have to say that it seems like there were communications issues. Given that most of us here have also had trouble understanding you and your rather 'stream of consciousness' way of communication, it seems obvious what the common linking aspect is.
Hopefully you can sit back and honestly evaluate how this has gone....both on this forum and with the Custom Shop, as if you do go ahead and run the proposed business using the skills you have displayed I can predict a lot of angry and/or confused customers.
