Aged Gold Humbucker Covers

Strange

So far, I have read different sugesstions for providing an aged look to humbucker covers. Coffe, tea and even urine have met with success. However, do these methods work with gold cover as well?

I have an old Les Paul Custom that is going to be 'Duncaned' very soon but the spacing on Classics is different that Duncans. For this particualr guitar I do prefer gold covers as opposed to exposed pickups but I would like the harware to match the new covers.

Anyone have experience ageing gold covers?

No experience, but i think you have to rub off the gold plating in large areas. Steel wool, sand box,...

Re: Aged Gold Humbucker Covers

Just rubbing it will do the trick because gold covers don't get that patina nickel gets. Beyond the normal light scratches all covers get, they just look like somebody rubbed the gold off, which they did over the course of 25+ years.

You can have mine.
My Epi Black Beauty had gold covered pups, but now they're tarnished and, to me, look like crap, but to you would look ideal.
I'm hoping to get some brand new gold SD pups to replace them.

Re: Aged Gold Humbucker Covers

Are they the covers that came with the guitar or Duncan covers?

It's the original Epiphone pickups. I was going to replace them anyway, and sell the old one's on eBay (not just the covers obviously, the whole three pickups). I have no idea if Epiphone pickups have the same spacing as Gibson ones.

As I stated in my original post, they will not fit Duncans. Thanks for the offer though.
