AHB -2 blackouts metal jumper pin problem

Hey I just installed an AHB - 2 metal pick up. Wired a push-pull switch for the jumper pin configuration. When switching the push - pull I don't notice a difference between the output being "loud to louder". I've checked the wiring I installed and find that the pins are properly not connected in the down position. Are properly connected in up position of push pull switch. I'm running a 9 volt batt. Though, I've tried a 11.1 volt lithium and with no difference in output with pin configs being jumped or not. How does everyone describe the high -low output of this pickup? I'm suspecting a defective pickup. Is there a noticeable difference of output (beyond a reasonable doubt) between the jumper being on or off?

I have the jumper in my LTD (before I decided actives aren't for me) on it all the time and it does have a volume difference, however very slightly considering I have my amp at 7 most of the time(thanks to the hot plate). Try bypassing the push-pull directly and add the jumper directly.

Welcome to the forum.

There are several components in the jumper/push-pull switch circuitry that could contribute to your problem. Unfortunately, it is all but impossible to remotely solve wiring issues without some visual information.

Please post photographs. Include the underside of your BO Metal humbucker and the push-pull switch contacts area.

i have a switch wired to the jumper on my blackout singles and there is a noticeable volume boost but if you have a fair amount of gain you wont notice much difference, just a little more compression. test the volume difference with a very clean sound

Hope the images help out. Gold pins were arranged onto the potentiometer and the switch. Pick up leads are black and jumper switch wire is grey. Notice the label on this pup, (HVY- MTL B). I compared images through Google search and saw an AHB-2 with the same pcb number and revision. Another image had the label as mine (HVY-MTL B). I was unable to get the story about that image.

Re: AHB -2 blackouts metal jumper pin problem

Mine is wired to push-pull on tone knob. Pulling it out is boosted mode. As mentioned, with gain up a good deal, the volume boost isn't a lot of difference, but definitely noticable in saturation and mid punch. If I have it hooked into my apogee jam interface for ipad it goes in the red with much less gain on input than unboosted. Digital clipping happens with less input gain than unboosted. I really like boosted mode for richer harmonics, it brings out harmonic sensitivity in a very noticable way when playing. Also to my ears the gain settings on my preamps need to be rolled back a bit from regular settings to achieve the same amount of saturation as unboosted. Most definitely hotter if not much louder.

Re: AHB -2 blackouts metal jumper pin problem

Clearly, the terminals on the push-pull DPDT switch have seen more than their fair share of soldering iron action.

Also, the degree of bend applied to some of the terminals cannot be good for its inner working parts.

IMO, the pin connectors soldered to the switch are redundant. Just one more thing to go wrong.

i have wires directly from the pins to the switch on mine, your connector might be shorting
