Airbuckers

I'm thinking about buying a used guitar that has and Air Zone in the bridge and an Air Norton in the neck, both covered. I know this is a Seymour Duncan forum, but I prefer the sound of Seymour Duncans. Basically I was wondering if the pickups that are in the guitar are what I'm looking for, or should I get the same guitar used with stock pickups and switch them out with Seymour Duncans. I mostly play classic rock type songs, with a few metal songs too. One of the most important things is I need pickups with a great amount of sustain. I'm looking for the bridge pickup to be fat and be able to get harmonics no problem. The neck pickup needs to sound clean and not get muddy with gain. I'm wondering if the pickups on the guitar are what I'm looking for, or should I spend the extra money and get Seymour Duncans. On the Dimarzio site, it sounds like just what I'm looking for. Also, they need to be covered, because I hate the look of uncovered pickups in a Les Paul.

Re: Airbuckers

I've used both of those, give'em a chance. They're not bad at all. They are a little more sterile sounding than most Duncan p/u's, but very versatile (especially the AZ).

Re: Airbuckers

this is for a les paul?
is it a set-neck mahog/maple deal?
if so you may find this set too bassy; the AZ is an awesome p/up but the LP may not be the best spot for it. haven't tried a AN but have read that it's a bit sloppy in an LP neck slot...
if it's the right price and a good gui though, it could be a good candidate for some trading post action
:deal:

Re: Airbuckers

i like the Steve's Special/Air Norton combo... then again i listen to alot of dream theater. Early stuff was a tone zone, then it was the steves special, then d-sonic. pretty sure he stuck with the air norton though
