Alder/Maple Strat w/Floyd(Which Bridge Pickup)?

I'm wanting to take the JB Juinor out of my American Standard Strat because I don't like the way the mids are...This one is an alder body with a maple neck and has an original floyd rose in it....I'm leaning towards either the Lil 59 or the Lil Scremon Demon(Maybe even the SSL3) What do you guys recommend in the bridge position for me for classic rock and blues styles? I've grown tired of the JB Juinor's tonality I guess? :burnout:

Your thoughts,opinions,and experiences welcome...

i got the same setup but i use a full size screamon demon. it has nice vintage full bright tone and tight focased screamon distortion. if you got a floyd you need a medium to high output pickup other wise it will sound weak and trebaly. I too did not like the jb becouse to me it sounded too scooped in my set up. I play thru rectoverb with 2 or 4/12 vintage 30's cab and I like rock, blues, and some metal. easy thing for screamon demon to get at least full size. hope this helps, Ime sneakin this review in from work good luck :fingersx: :fingersx: :fingersx:

Wow....Thanks for posting...This strat has the mint green guard for S/S/S and I don't want to go the fullsized humbucker in bridge route with this strat...I have two others like that,in fact one has the Scremon Demon in the bridge...I'm going to listen to Lew again and go with the Fralin Hot bridge version...Lew knows what he's talking about and he was 100% right when he turned me onto the Texas Hots in my American Deluxe...I'm not going to be coil splitting or anything,so I Just need a great sounding single coil sized bridge pickup that'll work with my Floyd Rose...Thanks for posting...

Sounds like you're dealing with the same issue I was a while back when I was looking for that kind of sound out of the bridge of my Strat. I don't have a Floyd Rose on it, and I was planning to put a Little 59/b in it, but am now going to put a completely different trio in there - replacing the Classic and Hot Stacks.
I'll have a SSL-3 in the bridge this time, with a SSL-1 in the neck and a APS-1 in the middle.
That Strat body is Alder with a rosewood fretboard on a maple neck.

Hello guys..Lew wants me to try the Fralin Steel Pole Hot pickup in my guitar in exchange possibly for some mods? Lew was right on the money about the Texas Hots for my styles,so I imagine he'd be right again with the Fralin...I'd actually prefer another single coil over the side by side humbucker...Except of course for the noise!

What I like about the Steel Pole 43 is that it's a Strat sized pickup with the output and tone of a P-90...or close to it. It has adjustable polepieces and the magnets under the bobbin, like a P-90. But being a Strat sized single coil, it still has alot of that bounce & chime. so it's great for solos but combines beautifully with a stock Strat middle pickup for those chimey N & M tones, whereas a mini-humbucker doesn't really have that chime. That classic Strat N & B combination tone is lost with a mini humbucker...you get a differant cool tone, but it's not the classic #4 tone. Lew

Just wanted to add that my buddy AJ uses a n & m Duncan SSL-1 set and a SP-43 for the bridge pickup in his Jimmie Vaughn Strat. It's a sweet sounding guitar and the SSL-1's sound every bit as good to me as the Fralin Vintage Hots and the SP-43 in my Strat...better somedays! Lew

if it was my strat, i'd put a lil59 into it for blues.. but a hotrail for more heavy stuff

Thanks for posting Lew and everyone else...Lew,you know by now that I fully trust you when it comes to tonal issues...The Fralin sounds like something right on the money again based on my music styles...I say let's go with it...If you want me to mod some things for you...Bring it on and let me know what you have...This would be better right at this moment to not have to lay out more ca$h....I've had to shell out a bit this week on my minivan.. :smack:
