All I asked about was how many bands and level controls

All I asked was "How many bands and what frequencies did you decide on?" and we get two pages of "AHHHHHHHHHHH" and 'there's a meme for that'. :nana:

I think that you would be best served by a three band parametric. A true parametric with Q controls for each band and a master output level control.
There, are you happy?

I no doubt dig a parametric. Always have. I had an early Boss board that had parametric mids and a friend with a Yamaha amp that was the same.

But a slider is just that easy....My take home though, is that I

a) Don't care how many slides, because there will be a mid setting or two in the guitar zone, but
b) I absolutely want a level control

Find the sweet spot with the parametric and you probably will only ever have to mess with the master volume. At most, tweak the levels of the different bands. You probably won't mess with the Q too much.

Eq is ridiculously helpful. 31 band is where it's at because it's the most precise. However, if you want a pedal then get a 10 or 7. Arguing against eq is the dumbest thing ever.

Amen.
31 let's you dial an amp into a cab like nothing else will.
Just remember, cut more than boost. It presevers headroom.
