Hello to everyone. This is my first post here so it is great thrill for me to be taking part in the great sharing of information that goes on here. I am a working musician that revels in all the intense discussion that goes on in this forum. I have learned so much in the months/years that I have "lurking" that I must thank all of you regular contributors for quite an education. I hope to also be able to share some of my knowledge and opinions with you all. Thank you all again.
I do have a question/observation. Having been a long time A2p Set user in my Les Pauls, I have quite a few sets laying around that came from guitars that I sold or traded, etc. Out of curiosity, I took out my multi-meter and took readings of all of my Duncans in case I wanted to sell off my extras. What I found is that my A2P's all read above the 7.85k listed in the catalog. My average out of 5 A2P bridge pickups was 8.27k. The highest was 8.43k and the lowest was 8.11k. These readings came in higher than my Seth Lover Bridge (7.97k) and my Pearly Gates bridge (8.04k). To make sure my readings were correct, I measured 2 sets of Antiquities that came with the readings on the tags and made sure I was within an acceptable range of deviation. Of course I realize that this does not mean much as far as quality is concerned, but I am curious whether the A2P was originally designed to be under 8k and has gone above that as time has gone on. If so, why not update the web site info? I know how "picky" we guitar players can be, so I wonder how many people turned away from an A2P due to the below 8k reading that it is advertised with.
As I said, just a curious observation.
Thanks again,
