Alnico II pro's a little bright

I just put a set of Alnico 2 pro's in my PRS SE singlecut (maple Cap Mahogany body) and am finding them a little bright for my taste. Any suggestion on a pup with similar output that would be a little smoother?

I'd reckon bumping a tone knob somewhere in the right direction or fiddling with pickup height could rectify your situation.

Yeah, change'em for an A2-modded, nickel-covered '59 set... or go the extra mile and get a Seth Lover set. You can thank me later!

Yeah, both an A2 in a 59 and Seth Lover are smooth, but in a different way than the Alnico II Pro. It might be a sideways step in the end. The Alnico II Pro isn't really much of a bright pickup as it is, however. If you can deal with an increase in power, the Black Winter is certainly smoother.

What value pots are in the guitar?

If you're at 500k, maybe a switch to a 300k volume put may get you where you want to be.

Does your guitar and/or amp have a tone knob? I find that they generally work quite well at removing some of the unwanted brightness.

Or, as suggested, you could try a lower value vol pot (250k is easier to find and cheaper than a 300k...you won't notice a difference between the two).
