Alnico II Pros in alder guitar?

Well, after discussing various aspects of pickups here, and listening to various sound samples on the Seymour Duncan website, I've basically decided to go with either a pair of '59s or Alnico II Pros. I'm leaning toward the latter, since the APH-1s have very sweet clear highs and full lows, lending to their very glassy sound. Any thoughts on how these will work in an alder body guitar? My guitar is a lot like a strat, really, but routed for two humbuckers instead of three single coils.

Well I think they will sound very good in a Strat, very balanced and sweet.
With the added snap from the strat they'll probally be very useful additions to your guitar, I am still thinking about stuffing one in my Wolfgang's bridge slot, allready have one in the neck postition, and I love the sound of that one alot.

If you put Alnico II's in the bridge and the neck would you have a variety of sounds? Most of the guitars I've seen put something different in the neck and bridge. Why put the same pickup in both neck and bridge? Is there an advantage?

well really depends on what u prefer. i've seen many people with distortion sets and 59 sets and they absolutely love it plus they can get pretty good tones. so its not an advantage, its just what u like.

A friend of mine put two Alnico II Pros in his Gibson les paul. I loved the neck and hated the bridge. Bridge didn't have enough power. Why not an Alnico II in the neck and a 59 in the bridge?

Even though it is a set the neck and bridge always sound different. That is why you have 2. If you like the sound of the bridge and want the similar type of tone in the neck you get the set.

I think I'm going to go for it. I've compared all the sound samples of the vintage-style pickups, and I love what I've heard of the Alnico II Pros. Plus, even the Tone Wizard suggests them for my axe and playing style.

Now the only question is, where do I go to buy them?
