Alnico magnet question

Neophyte question, what does the number associated with an Alnico magnet represent? What is the physical (ie physics behind) difference in an A2 v. A5 etc.?

different physical composition which leads to different properties.

so one grade will have more cobalt or less nickle or whatever when compared to a different grade.

The proportions of ALuminium, NIckel and COlbalt are different. Hence, the strength of the magnetic field produced will also be different.

Googling for alnico magnet formulations will probably bring you a raft of weighty articles, studies and reports into the exact science.
