Alnico or Ceramic for Funk

I'm putting a musicman replacement pickup in my OLP MM2 (4 string Stingray copy), which I am going to use with the Seymour Duncan STC-3m3 preamp (3 knob version) but am wondering what is the better choice for funk and slapping -- alnico or ceramic. The bass I'm putting this in has a maple neck and a figured maple laminate on top of what is probably a softer wood, so I'm wondering if the brightness of the bass might be balanced out by alnico. I want the slaps and pops to be real bright, however, so would ceramic do this? I know this question must have been asked a million times already, but I do appreciate your replies. Thanks in advance, MBK

Re: Alnico or Ceramic for Funk

If it was a 6 string guitar question I could have answerd it... it was on the tip of my tongure (typing fingers)...
For bass guitars I just don't know...

Re: Alnico or Ceramic for Funk

I'd recommend ceramic to get a little extra top end for the snaps and pops, especially when the strings get a little old and loose some of their natural snap.
