i play jazz, pop, classic rock .. no metal.. some dirty, mostly clean.. i have a baker b1 chambered with mahogony body/maple top. i'm looking for something warm but 'live' sounding.. i currently have dimarzio (i think paf pro) but i find them sterile, the neck sometimes sounds like a piezo to me.. the rio grandes really have me interested, but maybe they're too high output? i'm not sure.. i have 59s in my other guitar (epi sheraton) and don't really want them in both guitars.. thanks

Your guitar sounds similar to my chambered Monoco. I love a2 pickups in that guitar: Seth Lover neck and Custom Custom bridge.

I'd bet you'd love the combo you're thinking of: AIIPro and CC.

From descriptions of the CC, I am assuming the BBQ and CC both have pulled back highs, while both would have thick mids. Keep in mind that i am familiar with the BBQ, not the CC. The BBQ also has FAT bass which cold be good or bad depending on your guitar and amp......and preference.

The BBQ is not too hot at all, but very thick and has some serious growl which I love.

thanks for the help.. i'm leaning toward the texas/bbq set .. but open to opinions

All the above recommendations are fine, but they might be a bit too warm and even a bit too dark, IMHO. In addtion, the chamber body will add more resonance and warmth. If you want a bit more clarity and sparkle, can't go wrong with the 59/59 combo, or anything PAF like with decent highs. Just my 2 cents.

Good call on the 59 and maybe even a C-5?
I say that because I have friends who have used the BBQ but it was too dark in certain guitars....one even had a special wind done my Voodo to get a comparable BBQ type pickup with more highs.

I agree with Lew, the CC rocks! It's my fave high (mid?) powered bridge pickup. It's not exactly voiced as a PAF style, but it's very smooth and thick. For the neck, I like the Seth Lover and the PG for clarity in an Alnico II pickup.
