Alnico V or Alnico II for Ash-Maple HH tele?

The tele has a stainless steel "strat type" fixed bridge - as opposed to brass saddles. Maple neck and fretboard and an ash body.

I am looking for something with low/medium output. I am leaning towards Alnico II because of the "mid boost" and reduced highs. Then again, I know that I can easily make a guitar darker with just the tone knob if I need to, so Alnico V is considered too.

What do you guys suggest?

Thanks

A2 doesn't always have a mid-boost and the A5 isn't always bright and bassy.

Nearly every Dimarzio with an A5s is mids mids mids.
A lot PAFs have A2s, and are bright with reduced mids.

Just wanted to clear that up as magnets do have a huge role, but aren't night-and-day like they're made out to be.

With you wanting mids and smoother/warmer treble, I'd say a either a Pearly Gates though that can be bright but not piercing, or a Custom Custom if that isn't too hot for you. Maybe an Alnico II Pro but I find that to be a nice, but bright pickup in the bridge. For the neck I think an Alnico II Pro would do you good.

Thanks for the info. I was looking at this rather generally, but your reminder is very helpful. The PG and APH1 are the ones I was looking into the most. Four conductor wiring is a plus that I'd like to have.

I've got a Custom Custom in a hard ash (not swamp ash) Strat with a one-piece maple neck. It's bright naturally and remains bright with the edge taken off using the C2. The output of the C2 isn't ridiculous, either, and balances well with the Texas Special bridge I have in the middle and the '70s Fender Greybottom I have in the neck.
