alright, talk to me about pedals

i reeeeaallly want a small tube amp for home use, because i'm sick of my my line6 and i hate it.

so say i were to get maybe a blues jr. if i were to throw perhaps a proco rat or a v-twin or something along those lines in front of the amp, would that be able to achieve a good solid hard rock distortion? what pedals might you suggest that would do the job with a small tube amp like this? think thrice, hopesfall, underoath, anything in that genre. i want something that can land me in that ballpark.

thanks in advance guys.

for home use? yes, at bedroom volumes you should be getting lots of chunk

that's in the hotrod series (i believe) which all take pedals really really well. And a rat should do it, btu i suppose you could always look up teppei's setup & see what kinda distortion he's using, I'm sure he uses tons of them but, it'll give you a good idea of what to try

The hotrod series does tend to take pedals well but please keep in mind that the circiutry of the Deluxe and Devilles are vastly different than the Blues Junior and the Pro junior. The Deluxe and Devilles are a little more "Marshally" and the Blues Junior and Pro Junior are a little more "Blackface" depending on how you run them.

I might suggest going with something like a Peavey Classic 30. They take pedals well but also have a second channel with master volume control so it will act as a second gain stage for you to tweak. It'll give you a little more headroom and it's an amp you could pretty easily gig out with.

I don't agree with these statements....I Own a Pro Juinor and it doesn't sound even remotely like any BF Fender amp...It has EL84 tubes and sounds alot more like a british Marshall/Tweed Fender type tone it's it's vibe...The Pro Juinor growls and has prominent mids...The BF amp is more scooped in the mids and is cleaner and rounder sounding and doesn't gain up and lose it's clean headroom like the the newer tweed Pro amps....I Like the PJ alot more than the Blues Juinor..

When I run my PJ straight through my 4x12 V30 Marshall cabinet,it sure doesn't sound or act anything like a BF Fender...It sounds like a Marshall/British amp... :burnout:

would a 30-watt tube amp be too much for home use? i already have my mesa half stack for playing out, so i'm more than set as far as gigging goes.

Re: alright, talk to me about pedals

it may be, my 40 watter can handle gigs, and I know people gig with 30

if you use a pedal it won't be so bad because well, they have volume controls on them, that's pretty much the only way i can play at home, heh i can only play clean at certain times in the day

Oh....never mind then. You could use the Peavey Classic 30 as a bedroom amp; it does have the Master Volume option on it.

Of course you probably wouldn't want to go with my fave tone out of; clean channel cranked up. Pure natural distortion!
