Alt 8 in a strat?

From what I've seen here, the Alt 8 seems like a very versitile pickup...

Do you all think it would work well in the bridge position of an alder strat?

I play hard rock/metal but have to tone it down sometimes when I play at Church.

Re: Alt 8 in a strat?

Yes it would. Since it doesn't have all THAT much compression compared to its output and a certain thing about it that makes it seem it almost doesn't want to hit your amp so hard, it's actually pretty suited for a Strat. Brings out the bass and low mids a lot. It'd make a monster out of a too bright Strat for sure!

Issue is, it's too high output for single coils. So in a HSS setup there'd be a big inbalance between pickups. It's a big issue for me otherwise I'd do it.

It's the thickest sounding pickup I ever tried.

Well, SSL-3 Hot for strats in neck and middle position might improve the difference in output.
And yes, the Alt. 8 should be perfect in a Strat.

I'll be using rail type singles so not worried about imbalance so much.

Re: Alt 8 in a strat?

I've paired the Alt8 with DiMarzio SDS-1s for a nice match up.
Very good in a Strat.
