Aluminium neck guitars

I need to know which builders or companies still make aluminium necked guitars. I know George Bailey, and that other company... Electrical Guitar Company I believe.

If anyone knows of any others, that would be great. And does anyone know what a run of the mill EGC goes for?

Re: Aluminium neck guitars

I owned a Travis Bean for about 6 months. It was really heavy- that owed to the body rather than the neck. I also owned it over winter- when I would drive to gigs, the neck got freezing cold. One time I leaned it up against a radiator to warm it up- and torched my hands when I tried picking it up. It was an interesting sounding guitar, it looked cool and it was a cool thing to have- but it didn't play all that great (mine had a VERY narrow nut) and it was too heavy. Add in the enviromental factors to keep in mind about playing it- I don't miss that guitar and I would never own another one.

There used to be a company called Vaccaro, but they went under a few years ago. I'm sure they pop up on eBay every once in a while.

Re: Aluminium neck guitars

vaccaro's don't have much aluminum in the necks at all to be honest...

Im not sure about current production guitars out there but a Bean is always a good bet but costly, old Kramers can be nice and cost a LOT less than a bean but do have issues...

Consider this a bump...Big Black might know a few more current builders but I don't...

Electrical Guitar Company makes them see thru axes too. They also have a metal neck. I wonder what they sound like???
