American Deluxe wiring help

Hey everyone, I was wondering if someone could tell me if it's possible to sacrifice one of the positions so I can have neck+bridge together. I rarely use the middle pickup only, so if i could have neck+bridge together instead of middle pup only that would be great! sorry for the bad english

Re: American Deluxe wiring help

The current version of the Fender Deluxe American Stratocaster has the S-1 switching system built in. Neck + Bridge PU is one of the permutations offered with the S-1 switch in the Down position.

On older Dlx Am Stratocasters with Lace Sensors, there are various ways to obtain the N + B pickup combination. One involves changing the selector switch to an Oak Grigsby type. The other involves replacing one of the pots with a push-pull type.

So changing one of the tone pots for a push-pull would be a possibility to get the N+B combo? How would I go about doing that?

Re: American Deluxe wiring help

What pickups are in your Deluxe American Stratocaster? This may affect the modifications that you need to perform.

Re: American Deluxe wiring help

It's a custom project im working on, planning to use:
Alnico 2 pro single
Ssl1 single
Aph -2 humbucker

I was thinking the same thing. I've never been a fan of the middle pup of a Strat . . . until recently, when I found the right one, (ones).

In my Fender Strat: The STK-S4
In my Squier Strat: Custom wound Zhang-bucker. (A single based on the SSL-5)

I love to play both, just on the middle pup alone. Something I've never done before.

Re: American Deluxe wiring help

My bad. I foolishly assumed that modifications were about to be made to an actual Fender electric guitar.

It now appears that you simply want to adapt the Fender circuit. This still fails to clarify which generation of the Fender Deluxe American Stratocaster circuit is the starting point.
