American vs Mexican Fenders

Re: American vs Mexican Fenders

Yeah, the 21 frets would be enough for me to swap it out. But I never had a problem with MIM playability or any other neck problems.

I'd be tempted to go the Stratosphere route, and get the body/neck combo of choice. Well, until I remember that shipping anything from America costs a small fortune for no aparent reason :-S

Everyone I've owned and played had frets that needed some attention. But overall, very solid guitars especially for the price used.

Re: American vs Mexican Fenders

I had the same configuration of MIM Strat twice -- one a 1995, the other a 1999 -- and I didn't really like the necks. The frets were too small for my taste, and the edges of the neck were painfully squared off. And I thought the pickups were dry and sterile sounding. Everything else about them was fine.

The MIA Strats I've tried haven't had those problems, and the MIMs have been a lot better in recent years -- particularly the step-up models.
