My options here are basically this:

ANOTHER vs100R - and run it as an extension. I dig that because it can also be a backup, same speaker, etc… BUT I only have headphone, speaker, and emulated line outs on the back of amp A and a loop return or the front input on the front. $175

OR

The 2x12 Marshall. Bigger than I want, and it adds the three speaker issue. $350

If you guys are saying ONE cab with one 8ohm plus another cab with two 8 ohms mono = three speakers, all at more than 4 ohms in parallel Main combo + extension cab - I can do that.

There is a 1x12 - but the cab is smaller than the combo - so I can't sit combo on top of it. Another key need….

Your combo has one 8 ohm speaker, another 8 ohm output, will safely handle 4 ohms total. You should have no problem running an additional 8 ohm cab. Just because your cab has two speakers, don't assume that each of those speakers is 8 ohm. If the cab itself is rated 8 ohms mono, that means that the speakers in it are 16 ohm and wired in parallel. Just use the cab you already have and don't sweat it.

Your extension cabinet needs to be NO LESS than 8 Ohms.

Loudspeaker Jacks
For connection to external loudspeakers. The minimum operating impedance for the VS100R, VS100H. & VS102R is 4 Ohms.
The internal speaker on the VS100R/VS102R is rated at 8 Ohms, therefore if using an external speaker in conjunction with the internal speaker, the external speaker should be rated at 8 Ohms.

I think your uncertainty is due to the wording: when an amp manufacturer says "external speaker" what they mean is anything plugged into that jack, any external cabinet. All the amp sees is the impedance at its output jacks- the number of actual drivers is irrelevant except in terms of overall impedance. Any 8 Ohms will work as an external for your amp. Since its internal speaker is also 8 Ohms, the two working together in parallel will be a 4 Ohm load and the amp will be happy.

I got the MX212 (yeah - I know…not an Uber-Marshall….)
I gigged it.
It rocked - no explosions!
