Amp "clicking" in overdrive?

Lately, for some reason, my amp has been making a metronome like "clicking" noise whenever the overdrive channel is switched on. (It really is like a metronome, we can count the songs off with it :laugh2: ).

I've disconnected all my effects and guitar from the head, and it still makes the noise. The weird part is.. it only makes the noise with the overdrive engaged. Clean, the head is very quiet.

Any thoughts on what this could be?

Does the amp have trem or vibrato?

Is anyone carrying a digital cell phone nearby when the sound is audible?

I never thought of it.. but that could very well be. I don't have one, but maybe my bandmates have one on them.

Try turning it on alone, without anything else even plugged into the outlet. Have you switched outlet's?

Yea, it's happened at my practice space, my house, and at shows. It's not a house wiring problem. (unless all 5 places had bad wiring... not inconceivable, but not very likely)

Exactly the first thing that popped into my head when i read that...

If i ever had my phone in my pocket while playing or just with the guitar and amp on overdrive you can hear the signals from the phone, if your phone is close to your guitar like in your pocket then it will be pretty much constant like a metronome
