Is it normal for an amp to get brighter and brighter as you turn it louder and louder?

Re: Amp Question

Basically, yes, but it's not the amp that's to blame: it's the way the increased air pressure reacts with the room and your ear drums!

Ah ok. Stupid ears! :laugh2:

Re: Amp Question

I thought that as the volume increases, so does the bass and treble, more so than the mids. I think it's called the proximity effect??? .... Or something like that.

Re: Amp Question

as a rule...as you increase gain you get more bottom and low mids...I notice that you have a Roland JC amp...SS amps by their nature acsent high order odd harmonics, which to your ears sound kind of bright and or brittle.
