Amp Shoot out

Hey dudes,

Looking at a good sounding tube amp, 500.00CD Range, can be either single or dual channel, but I NEED an effects loop, and a clean tone thats got some good ol' tubey compression happening, a real smooth sounding amp, preferably on the cleaner side,

Ive been looking at Peavey Classic 50's and Fender Hot Rod Deluxes, thoughts? other choices? any advice?

Re: Amp Shoot out

I'd choose the classic 50 over the hot rod deluxe for distortion. For clean... you'd have to play both of them. They have differant sounding cleans, not everyone loves the classic's clean.

Re: Amp Shoot out

Instead of a Hot Rod Deluxe, go for the Tweed Blues Deluxe Reissue.

Like the Hot Rod, the drive channels are kinda bleh...but...the CLEAN channel shines. Sounds amazing. And Takes any pedal that you can throw at it VERY well.

The 2 inputs (high and low), along with the ability to change the preamp tube from a higher gain 12AX7 to a medium gain 12AT7, gives you lots of flexibility and headroom options.

I have one, and love mine. Its my gigging amp when I'm feeling lazy. If I'm not lazy, I tote around my Bogner half stack, but for a grab and go amp that records VERY well, you cannot beat the Fender Blues Deluxe.

Plus its tweed and looks awesome.
