Amp Shopping....

I'm planning on hitting all the local guitar shops next week, and i'm also going to a guitar show tommorow where they sell lots of vintage gear... i've been looking for a new amp, something kinda classic-rock-ish, but also bluesy.... the things i had been considering were tweed champs, BF bassman halfstacks, and fender deluxes mostly.... anything else similar to those, possibly from different companies that i should keep my eyes peeled for?? Thnx..... :)

I would suggest a new Traynor YCV20WR. It's a 15w. class A
tube amp.
It has a Greenback speaker and the clean channel is way better than a Fender Blues Jr.
That amp. is great for Blues and with a TS808 Tubescreamer, the tone is extraordinary.

uh... i'm really looking at the $700 range, but i think more might be okay..... but even less is better. I'm just a highschooler strapped for cash.....

Check out THD amps man, I just played one today and it kicked but. I'm also a highschooler, and chances are your parents yell at you like every frickin' 5 seconds to turn down also. and then you say "mom/dad, it's a tube amp, I need to be loud to sound good!" and then they're like "turn down or your grounded/I'm trying to sleep/my toad will explode with a banana in it's freakin' mouth/(some other c0ckeyed parent response). If you have this problem, then the univalve or the bivalve is your gift from God. It has a built in attenuator (device that take away vol. from your sound while still retaining power tube dist.) and some other cool things on it.

The Bivalve at Guitar X in denver = $1155 (i think)
The univalve that guitar x didn't have = about $700-$800 (I think)
If your also lookin' for a cab, check out www.avatarspeakers.com , and look at their THD amp special. You get a THD amp for cheaper when you buy a loaded cab.

My daughter is having a birthday tomorrow, so I can't hit the show in Austin. I was really hoping to get there.

Good luck. I still say you really ought to check out a used 59 Bassman Reissue. 4x10 Alnico speakers, tube tone to the max, loud enough for gigs, distorts quickly enough to enjoy it at home.

I bet you'll find a few used ones there.

peavey classic 30. from what u say u want, its pefect.

also, happy b-day to your daughter scott. hope she has a good one.

Yes check out the Peavey Classics. For what you are looking for, they might be a good fit.
Those amps sound good, they are versatile and the price is definitely right. A new Classic 50 is about $700 new. Used ones are about $400 in good shape.

hmm... good suggestion, grandor, but most of the people i like best aren't on there.

I just want something with a nice natural overdrive, thats not buzzy like the overdrive on my current amp. Also, it'd be cool to be able to do real 'smooth' type leads, ala some of claptons stuff, but also be able to get some grittier sounds, kinda like the rhythm part for 'La Grange' (ZZ Top)....

hmm.... what if i had a line on a $900 mint '67 bassman halfstack.... complete with a nice heavy-duty case w/ casters....

again, the 'it could get stolen' factor comes into play here, but that sounds like a sweet deal to me... what do you guys think??
