Amp Trouble: Advice Needed

For the last few years my main amp has been a Fender Hot Rod DeVille. I love the tone it gets and how well it takes pedals, but recently the clean tone has started sounding like I'm running my guitar thourgh a cheap fuzz pedal. It did the same thing to me a few months ago and I tried changing the tubes but that didn't help at all. Eventially it just went away. I'm thinking it could be the speakers but I wanted to know what the amp and electronics gurus think.

If it does need new speakers, I could use some opinions on what type to get. It's the 4x10 model and I use it mostly for blues, occasionally jazz and rock as well.

Thanks in advance for any tips or advice.

Is it more like static you are hearing? The Hot Rods are imfamous for having bad resistors and burnt trace pads.

That could be it. Is that something I might be able to fix ot should I just take it to a professional?

I don't recommend a D.I.Y. repair. I'm very handy with a solder Iron and have some electronics knowledge. I was able to fix my HRD... But it was Murphy's law all the way.:eyecrazy: Bring it to a pro, And save yourself a major headache.:banghead:
