Ampeg Super Echo

anybody have any experience with these old Ampeg amps? It seems to have everything i wished some of the other ampeg amps (jet, reverberocket, gemini, etc) combined in one package.

Re: Ampeg Super Echo

Oddly enough, as you see in my sig, I'm most likely getting a Gemini II in a few weeks. Played one today and the tremolo, reverb and most of all the TONE was to die for! Never played a Super Echo, but if it sounds anything like the Gemini, it should be excellent!

Flank, just like we talked about bro...if you've played a Reverberocket you've played a Super Echo Twin...the Super EWcho Twin is 2 Reverberocks in one big box.

You're not likely to find anybody that's played one...they are quite rare and kind of always have been...

yea yea yea :D....... ok, is there still any slim chance out there that anybody here has played one?

Re: Ampeg Super Echo

yeah---I had one onct upon a time. Not as loud as you would think for the size, but has all the Ampeg fat clean goodness and that great tremolo and 'verb. Like some of the older Gibson amps tho, I couldn't justify carrying it around for what it put out and sold it. Still have a Gemini II and a G12 and nothing sounds like these amps...

did you find yourself running it in stereo or mono most often?....i love the sound of the old Ampegs like the Reverberocket and Jet (and i understand that this amp is literally two reverberockets in one box)...but the mono operation of this amp interested me cause it seemed that maybe the combination of two reverberockets for a true 30 watts may give some more clean headroom

ran it in mono...I was never a fan of stereo, even for playback. That 30 watts or so wasn't all that much louder or cleaner. What worked better for me was a VT40---plenty clean and loud.
