AMT Stonehead - Comparing lead channels 1 & 2 - Heavy sounds..

Phantasmagoria

watch where you point that sabre
Quick comparison between the two lead channels on my AMT Stonehead. (I used the speaker emulated output - > my digital handheld recorder's input.)

No effects in front or in the loop. No pre-post-prod. Single mono track. Eq's the same for both channels. The "voicing" knob on Lead channel 1 is what's making the difference.. :naughty:

Guitar's my Jackson Dk2

Pretty good for direct cab emulation. I normally can't stand them. Technically I don't "need" a stonehead but I really want one. I'd love it if they made a preamp only version.

Sounding great man. Nicely dialed in.

Thanks man! I think the speaker emulation's based on a V30 cab & apparently, so are the Laney/HH speakers in my 4x12. Which means, the emulated output's very close to what I hear standing in front/coming out of the cab (so dialling tones in is actually pretty easy..)

Yeah, I hear you dude. The emulated out from my Randall sounds like **** I mean it's usable but pretty meh. I mostly avoid it like the plague. But frankly, everything about the Stonehead ROCKS haha. If you did pick one up there would'nt be a moment's regret man..it's fantastic in just about every way :) The only shortfall for me is that it's not a 100 watter. It gets loud (about as loud as my 15 watt Goldea tube head...which is LOUD) & will easily hold it's own in a band situation...but it won't really make your ears bleed like a cranked 100 watt head. However for practice/recording it's totally nuts...and the tubey-ness is incredible....totally indistinguishable from the real thing in every way...sounds/feels/responds like a tube amp.

The SS-30 Bulava is supposedly 3 of the Stoneheads 4 channels in a pre-amp (not ditto but very similar) ...I've never tried it though..
