An actual pawnshop score! And it's a Gibs

For the last couple of years I've been on the lookout for a metallic green Robot Sg for cheap. My plan was to rip all the robot stuff off of it and just put in the pickups and tuners I want. The day is finally here! I found 1 were the robot tuning pot is actually broke off so I was able to get what I consider a good deal on it. It's got some dings but that's fine with me. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

You stole my idea!
Fine. Now I'm gonna buy a standard and turn it into a robot. Love that robot green though.
Nice score.

Thanks. The finish and ebony board are what draw me to this guitar

Love the colour. Pickguard would look better tho as a regular black 3 ply.

Sweet! Love Ebony fretboards–cool looking axe, enjoy! :headbang:

I've long considered doing the same, thats a great green. Congrats.

Thanks guys. I just ordered the EMG Hetfield set to put in it and I'm going to probably put black grovers and a new black pickguard on it. I couldn't believe I found 1 so close to me and for so cheap

Ahh you had me right up til EMG's

Oh well still a cool guitar enjoy the hell out of it

Re: An actual pawnshop score! And it's a Gibs

Some of those robot Gibsons had nice finishes that only came with all the robot junk, so good call on finding one cheap. I knew some of those would start going cheap as soon as the robot hardware started malfunctioning.

I actually like that carbon fiber pickguard. I'd stick with nickel Grovers to match the rest of the hardware though.

I'll have to jump on the bandwagon, and say I love that green too. Nice score.

I always loved those guitars just for the color. For years, I have had the same general plan you did (though mine involves a regular multi-ply pickguard and P90's). Congratulations on the score.

Where's the Like button? :fing2:

only thing you find in the pawn shops in the bad part of town are Sears brand acoustics and SX's that have been beaten within an inch of their life.
