Hi Fellow Guitarists
I'd like to share an amazing find that works so very well after having my 50 watt marshall head blow up minutes B4 an open air show Following that to a club gig, Ok I was given a tech 21/60 watt combo amp that was sitting around as part of a backline and 1 used marshall 4x12 cab with vintage 30 watt speakers set at 16 ohms.. used the speaker out on the tech 21 with 6ft speaker cable for some reason it sounds the best at 16 ohms ok onto the amp settings using the channel 2 on the tech 21, bite button is on pushed in weep button is off not pushed in, drive knob 12 o clock to 2,growl knob 12 to 2 oclock, boost knob full up, low knob full up maybe back off a tad high knob full up for the gibson humbucker sound I have the dials set this way and I really can't believe the sound it produces if your after a overdriven clean/raunch It's sounding like an old marshall 50 watt head with out any stomp boxes this is it !!!.. kinda like a Billy Gibbons meets Eddie Van Halen tone.. before this day and open air show I said I'd never never buy a solid state amp well this experience has made me buy 2 tech 21's and I had the 2 cabinets already.. I used a gibson flying V & a Les paul standard both stuffed with Duncan JB2 neck JB 4 BRIDGE I set the vol tone knobs neck 2/1/2-bridge @ 10 and tone approx at 4-6 on both bridge tone knobs neck 8 to 10. The only pedals needed are chorus and a wah at best, a graphic eq so you can drive the lead tone a bit more if needed no tube drivers needed any type distortion boxes either I've been at it 30years + and this combination impressed me @ 49 yrs of age and I just wanted to share a lil magic with you... the down side on the tech 21/60 watt combo amps are don't even try using them alone at an open air- outdoor gig the sound just leaves... but indoors they can work really well on their own with the 12" speaker aboard
with the 4x12 cab you can get that sound/volume your looking for at a club owners turn it down request... It's not the real real dead on tube tone but it's the best I've ever heard for solid state
Enjoy~Chip
