An idea for a stereo rig

I'm just wondering about the feasability of the following:

Guitar - drive pedals in front of amp - Blackface fender clone....... then in the loop: modulation - stereo chorus - stereo reverb with 1 out to loop return, other out to input of 2nd amp.

Will this work, and will the drive pedals (plus whatever else I've got on) come through the second amp.

It would work if you go into the loop return of the second amps otherwise you have two pres stacks (not a bad thing but maybe not the tone you want)... works best if both amps (or at least the power section of both) are the same.

Well both will be fender blackface clones.....set clean to just some slight grit. 2nd amp has no loop.

I would not recommend doing it this way.

a. If the fx loop in Amp 1 interrupts the preamp to power amp signal chain, then this will not work if you only use the send without the return.
b. Slaving to a 2nd amp is usually used when you want to have the tone of your first amp go into a second power amp.

Better to use an ABY pedal to split the guitar's signal and run a wet/dry rig with the amps on either side of the stage/room/airplane hanger/whatever.

I've done it that way and it can work, but for some reason I get more noise and other problems. One thing that did work well was tapping in with a line out AFTER my power tube section (suhr iso box thingy) and I send that signal to a small solid state amp and used that as my wet. Idealy with a volume pedal in between for most flexability. Even did w/d/w that way and it was 1984 in my garage and my hair got really poofy.

If both are set mainly clean I think running infront of the amps in stereo will work well enough (but I don't mind modulation before a lil grit not distortion but grit).

On a lot of amps, you can use the Effects Send/Pre-Amp Out jack without interrupting the internal signal to the power amp. It is usually when you plug something into the FX Return/Power Amp In that the Send signal gets disconnected. So that setup should work, with the exception that the Effect Send level may be a bit much for the input to the second amp.

Use the chorus to split into the front of each amp.

I just tried this setup myself for the first time the other day. Works great, because I can mix the two amps however I want, and the Chorus acts as a buffer so that adjusting controls on one amp will not adversely affect the input impedance to the other amp. It sounds great with or without the chorus turned on.

The same idea should work with an echo instead of a chorus, but many delay units with stereo outputs are line level signals, and so want to be in the effects loop rather than out in front of the amp. You should be able to adjust the amps so it will sound alright. Then separate your speakers by several feet and get yer Jimmy Page on!

What I have (will have soon actually) is one Phaez blackface clone head with a loop, and a Ceriatone prinzeton with no loop.
I'm hoping to have the possibility of running both amps together if I choose.
Given only 1 has a loop the modulation will go through that, and I was hoping to be able to connect the second amp by way of the dry out of the stereo pedal.

I'm having fun with this setup. It's a nice pairing of amps to use in a stereo configuration because they are voiced differently, but both have adjustable power from 1W - 18W/20W. Together they are killer. Recommended!

The Ibanez is a Darkstone DN500K. I am not sure if these are still in production, but I love this guitar. It has a dark, meaty tone and sustain that can kill small farm animals. IIRC, it was a google search for information about the Darkstone that first brought me to SDUGF.
