An INSANELY Versatile Les Paul

Hey folks — as part of my "Pagey Project" series on maxed-out Les Paul wirings, I just posted a new video featuring the most extreme wiring scheme I've ever tried: a modern adaptation of the original Page wiring incorporating Triple Shot Mounting Rings. This arrangement provides well over a hundred switching combination. And to make matters worse, I used two spare push/pull pots to operate an onboard germanium overdrive.

Too much? I distort, you decide.

That's amazing.... I'll have to give that a go with the HSH/HHH config....

Wondering how one could get away with that config in a strat format? Rotating position switches? NAh, not enough flexibility as with the individual switches on coils... I would think....

That sounds complex, can you tell the tone difference between any two combinations? Which ones are the most interesting ones?

I really like some of the tones coming from that, seems endless, nice work.

Though I would probably spend more time fiddle f*ing with the thing than actually playing music with it.

Like Jolly, I would totally get lost in all the different combinations. Some very cool sounds.

But like you say, it is mostly useful for studio work. Not sure you would use more than a few of those sounds on stage.

It sounds like what you are calling "normal humbucking" mode is really coils in parallel. And what you are calling "parallel" (the loudest, darkest setting) is actually coils in series mode. Series is the dark/heavy/bassy/ballsy/loud configuration. Parallel is the very light/articulate/single-coilish/quieter configuration.

Maybe you've got your Triple Shots wired incorrectly?

I always wire mine so that the switches point to the active coil when split ("reverse" wiring), and coils are in series when switches are together and parallel when switches are apart.

I tried something like this too, and even crazier stuff as well, but I always fell back to the '2 pickup 2 tone 2 volume' setup. maybe less 'options' but more easy to dial in, and with good, no great humbuckers, much more versatile. style-wise, that is. to me anyway love to watch your clips though.
